Making marvellous muffins!

Last week our shared book was called 'The King's cake' by Jill Eggleton. We loved reading it and thought it would be a good idea to make a cake in our class! Miss Baker looked for a cake tin but could only find a muffin tin but we liked that because it meant that we got a little cake each!! We made yummy banana chocolate chip muffins and each of us took turns to measure and mix. The video shows how we made them and how much fun we had!

We miss Kashin!

Dear Burma,
I am sorry about Kashin dying. I will miss her and I feel very sorry. I loved Kashin and I hope you feel ok. I liked it when you played with each other. Kashin was clever to push logs with her trunk. From Chelsea

Dear Auckland Zoo,
I feel sad because Kashin died yesterday. We visited the zoo this year. We saw Kashin rolling a log in the log race. Kashin was a clever elephant and a tickly elephant. We will all miss you in Room 7 Kashin.
From Kevan

To the Zoo,
I feel sad. Kashin was my favourite animal at the zoo. Kashin was the bomb!! She had a big brain and was nice to people and was good at lifting. The zoo keepers are the bomb too because they looked after her! From Drew

To the Zoo,
I am sad because Kashin died. She did cool tricks and she looked soft and hairy. Kashin liked mud baths so she didn’t get sunburnt. I wish I could hug Kashin. You must be sad at the zoo too. Kashin was so brave and she had big muscles. From N’Kastro

Dear Burma,
Do you miss Kashin? All our school miss her. I liked it when Kashin dipped her long trunk in the water and squirted water out of it. I think the zoo keepers will miss Kashin a lot. I do. From Georgia

We love buddy reading!

In Room 7 we love to read! And we especially love buddy reading! Sometimes in class we get a chance to read to each other and twice a term we buddy up with another class in the school! Last week we did buddy reading with Room 17 from the middle school. It was nice and sunny so we went outside to share our reading. The whole school was buddy reading at the same time so everywhere you looked people were reading to each other...how cool is that!!

Pasifika parade!

Pasifika parade on PhotoPeach

We celebrated Pasifika week by having all sorts of activities throughout the school. On Friday we had a parade to celebrate all the diversity we have in our school with so many cultures. Children and teachers dressed up in outfits to celebrate their culture and heritage! We marched around the courts to music and clapping from all the parents who had come to watch. It was a lot of fun for everyone, especially the dancing at the end!
